Post-Modernism is a philosophical movement that has its origins around the late-20th century (Duignan, 2019), which was popularized by Andy Warhol (TCCpomo, 2010). Before I explain the brief concept behind Post-Modernism; Modernism is the idea of using structure, rules, and regulation, there was science and logic to back any ideas or thoughts. Whether the thoughts were directed into the vast field of artistic views or in any industrial progression. Modernism at its fundamental level had reasoning and was taken seriously (Postmodernism, 2019).
Post-Modernism broke the very rules Modernism stood for, it was free, subjective, had no scientific reasoning, it was filled with emotions than any logical movement and while it seemed drastically new to people who were transitioning from Modernism, individuals who were born and raised in this era found it pleasing and enjoyable (Postmodernism, 2019).
Post-Modernism is a falsity and subjective in definition. As this was a new movement and a term that was defined much later in the historical period of arts and science why shouldn’t one use it for the previous centuries? For example, when Arnold Schoenberg, a composer, and theorist, decided to invent a new musical technique such as, Serialism or the 12-tone row, that idea in its very self at that particular time felt like Post-Modernism amongst musicians and composers of that era.
However, as society unconsciously dictates we wish to use such an illogical manner and that in my very opinion is extremely vague and weak to the use for the 21st century’s cultural norms, art, science, and ideas. REFERENCES:
